World Water Day Celebrated

Prayer for the conservation of water of the mother earth

Paryavaran Mitra organized festival of worship on the occasion of ‘World Water Day’ with the objective of sensitization and awakening of people’s consciousness about the significance of five elements of our environment. Five earthen utensils symbolizing five basic elements (Earth, Water, Air, Fire, Sky) were worshiped by rural women at Bateshwar along with prayer and wish for making this world free from all kinds of pollution, and for abundance of Water resources, which is key to the survival of the living world.

It was a creative attempt to link ancient Hindu belief in five elements as constituents of life of world to the modern context and crises faced by humanity.

Several programmes were also organized at Shiksha Prakashalaya, Little Lamps, Young Scholars, Gyan Deep and other schools of Shikohabad to mark the World Water Day. Paryavaran Mitra contacted the government authorities at district level and extended it’s support to join the efforts in the direction of environment protection.

The attraction of the water day was circulation by Paryavaran Mitra, the copy of Poem titled ‘Pani Ki Kahani’ written by P.M. President Smt. Kiran Bajaj in which she has creatively sensitized us all to conserve and value water.
