Destruction of Forest – a matter of great concern – Smt. Kiran Bajaj

Paryavaran Mitra organized a symposium in Hind Parisar in collaboration with Social Forestry Dept. Firozabad. In this meeting, officials of Forest Deptt of Shikohabad, Firozabad, Tundla and Jasrana took part. Forest Ranger Sri S.N. Singh yadav was the Chief guest and Forest Ranger Sri Tejsingh Yadav was Special Guest.

In the beginning, Dr. Subodh Dubey read out a message from Smt. Kiran Bajaj, President, Paryavaran Mitra. In this message she expressed her concern that everybody should ponder over seriously the effect on environment by regular cutting and diminishing forests. At their own level everybody should play active role in prevention and creation of new forests.

She further said, that according to rules of Forest Deptt, 10 trees should be planted in place of cutting of one tree. Though in last two decades only 1% trees are planted. Exploitation of burning food has increased upto 235 Ml cu. meter.

Our country is very rich in flaura and fauna having so many different varities, but due to exploitation of forests, their survival is in danger Apart from this, cutting of forests in Hilly areas is eroding upper layer of fertile earth resulting in uncontrolled rain and flood. Erosion effecting seriously the agricultural production.

Chief guest Sri S.N. Singh Yadav expressing his views said that, this is the responsibility of common men also to act his part in environment protection apart from government and Non-governmental organizations. In the way forests have been reduced, the danger will go on increasing we should develop small forests, nurseries in such a way where they can be protected. He welcomed the initiative taken by Paryavaran Mitra in this regard. He especially mentioned the dangers on environment. He explained the role of forests in constriction of Glaciers, erosion of Ozone layer, reduction in water sources.

Special Guest Sri Tejsingh Yadav said, conservation and development of forests should be ensured. This is only possible through collective partnership of everybody. This will ensure better implication also.

In this symposium participation of officials of Forest Deptt in large numbers made this “Forest Awareness Programme” a success.
