World Environment Day
was celebrated by Chandigarh branch with lot of
zeal and enthusiasm on June 5, 2007. |

On this occasion we took out a Chetna
Yatra in the Village Baltana and Zirakpur. This
area has been badly affected by water supply and
sanitation issues. Water Table is dropping so
fast in the region that we may not have enough
water to meet our daily needs. |
|
About 60 people from our staff members
, CFA people and transporter participated in this
event. Chetna Yatra began at 11 AM and started
from Baltana colony and ended at Zirakpur by walking
around 2 Kms. |
|
During this event our volunteers
made aware people about the cleanness of environment
, use of planting the trees, adoption of renewable
source of energy like solar cooker, Protecting
forest and environment by not burning crops residues
and avoid using the polythins bags etc. |
|
Volunteers have also choosen a more
locally relevant theme and emphasis on saving
of water by giving slogan ‘Jal se hi Jivan hai‘.
|
|
Local people have actively participated
on various environmental issues and their remedial
measures. Poster on environmental issues were
also displayed which evoked much interest among
the people. |
