In the month of January 2007, BEL Chandigarh branch
PM Parivar took out “Paryavaran Chetna Rally” in village
Pabahat, Zirakpur, spread awareness on cleanliness,
for protecting environment, as the sanitation conditions
there are very bad.
We co-ordinated with Principal of Government Elementry
School, Zirakpur and managed to get Mr. Girish Verma,
Executive Officer of Municipal Committee involved in
conducting an awareness programme about cleanliness,
environmental protection and water / electricity conservation
and strictly avoid usage of plastic. This school was
chosen as it is in a village having students from poor
/ lower middle class background and they get rare opportunities
to get such informative knowledge.
We arranged a school meeting with staff and students
and briefed them about the need of conserving and marinating
environment and natural resources.
About 125 students of 3rd and 4th Standards along with
our staff, our CFA staff, members of Municipal Corporation,
Zirakpur and local residents participated in the rally.
The rally went around the village spreading the awareness
about Paryavaran and the staff briefed the localities
about the same. We also made 11 members during this
rally.
There was great interest among the local public and
other passers by paid attention seeing school children’s
involvement and appreciating Paryavaran Mitra initiatives.
At the end, the Executive Officer addressed the gathering
and appreciated company’s efforts in promoting the cause.
He also distributed light refreshment to the children.
He also assured to provide his valuable support to the
company in promoting some more events of this kind in
future.
This event was covered by local press and the press
cuttings would be sent in due course of time.
