- Reasons to be a vegetarian
India is the home not only for vegetarian cooking but also for the art of healthy living.
The world has accepted our own AYURVEDA as the oldest known work on biology, hygene, medicine and nutrition.
The following are some of the reasons why all of us should shift to total vegetarian food habits :
Non-vegetarian foods are high on fat compared to the plant foods.
Meat is deficient in carbohydrate and except for Vitamin–B eat is also deficient in Vitamins.
There are a host of bacteria and viruses , worms and parasites , some quite dangerous that are present in animal meat.
Meat consumption increases the risk of heart diseases which is the largest killer in our country.
Some other diseases directly connected with meat consumption include kidney stones, diabetes, arthritis, gum diseases, acne, intestinal toxemia and multiple sclerosis.
Studies confirm that vegetarians tend to be thinner than meat eaters there by avoiding problem of obesity.
Being healthier on a vegetarian diet simply means spending less on health care. Generally vegetarian foods are less costly as compared to non-vegetarian foods.
Plant food do not contain cholesterol.
Believe that whatever affects the body has a corresponding effect on the mind and soul. There can never be peace among us when we are declaring war on the other developed form of life.
To live vegetarian means to protect the underlying values of those around us.
There are vegetable based substitutes available for every meat product imaginable.
The sacrifice you make by being vegetarian is nothing compared to the animals that sacrifice their lives for you to be non-vegetarian.
