BHUBANESHWAR : Debate competition and Awarenes Campaign at Guru Nanak Public School on 15th March 2008

On 12th March 2008 the PM Co-ordinator approached the School Principal to conduct the competition who was kind enough to accord her permission to go ahead with the programme. She called two of the senior teachers of the school and directed them to co-operate us for conducting the programme. She even circulated a notice to the students to participate in the competition.
On 14th March’08 PM co-ordinator went to the school and with the help of their School personnel cleaned the room and arranged Tables and chairs for the programme.
On 15.3.08 our PM members went to the School at 12.00 p.m. and conducted the Programme. We have displayed our PM Posters in the school premises and Banners in different languages in the programme room. Students in good numbes, all the teachers, all the office bearers of the School participated in the programme.
To start with, Mr. P.K. Tripathy, BSSM addressed the gathering, explaining various aspects of Paryavaran Mitra, its utility and our duty towards mother earth.
After that PM co-ordinator also highlighted the importance of Paryavaran and requested everyone to put their best efforts to protect the environment from drastic pollution.
Mrs.Madhumita Sahoo, School Principal in her address, touched upon noise pollution, water pollution and requested for conservation of fuel to the maximum.
Mr. P.C. Panigrahi, Area Manager(LUM) and Mr. B.N. Dash, one of our active PM Members, addressed the gathering and appealed to the students to practise the habit of spreading the awareness of Paryavaran in their day-to-day life.
An Audio visual presentation was shown to the participants, which was viewed with keen interest by one and all.
After the AV presentation, the Debate competition started. Though all students participated, girls showed more enthusiasm and shared their knowledge on environmental pollution. The prizes were distributed to three winning students.
The School Principal was very much pleased with the programme and requested our BSSM to have other PM programmes somewhere in the near future. The AV presentation gave everybody a mind blowing effect on Paryavaran and our thrust to awaken the public to contribute their best towards preservation of our mother earth.
